Steve graduated from SJSU in 1974 with a Masters Degree in Sculpture. After graduation he was hired as an Instructional Support Technician to coordinate the set up of the departments' foundry facility which opened in 1975. Steve currently manages the School of Art & Design's 4000 sq. ft. central shop facility in the Art building and serves as the building's technical coordinator.

While Steve worked part time at the University, between 1978 and 1998, he also operated his own business, The Exhibit Studio, producing museum and speciality exhibits, prototypes, models and furniture.
