John McClusky is an Industrial Designer and Assistant Professor of Industrial Design at San Jose State University who specializes in the role of aesthetics in product development for aging consumers. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design from the University of Cincinnati and a Master's degree from The Ohio State University with specializations in Computer Graphics and Cognitive Systems Engineering. Professor McClusky has provided services in product design, design research, human factors consulting, and strategic planning. His clients have included Xerox and Fuji Xerox, Swingline/Acco Brands, Whirlpool, Crown Equipment Corporation and Rio Digital Audio. His work has earned several awards including the IDEA Gold Award, the Red Dot for High Quality Design and the Good Design Award. In 1996, he was the first industrial designer to serve on the Arthritis Foundation Product Review Board evaluating products for the Arthritis Foundation Seal of Approval. In addition to his professional work, he has also developed curriculum and taught in the design programs at San Jose State University, Carnegie Mellon University and The Ohio State University.
